This coming Friday and Saturday will see a good amount of fun activity, sales — and food! — in Uptowne Galion.

    An Evening With the Arts

Participating Galion merchants’ second “Come Forth Fourth Friday” activity is hosting a selection of local artist showing their works. This event will be held Friday, July 23 from 5:00 to 8:00 in Uptowne Galion.

Artists at the event include Pat Olson, a Mansfield native, working with acrylic paint and “felting”, Shirley Fearn, a rural Galion resident also working with acrylic, Steve Burgett from Plymouth, working with large canvases, William Obenour, from Marion using a realistic/impressionist approach, Eloise Barrows from Bucyrus working with watercolor. Also taking part are Marcheta Gibson with photography on display, Jeanne Hess offering unique bookmarks, and Carol Kable, from Galion, working in watercolors and acrylic.

These artists will be in one of the following locations, Uptowne Outfitters, Laurie’s Pastries, Sonnie Sue’s, KC’s Aquaworld, Quay Drug’s, and a display in Nollen Park. On Saturday, the arts focus continues with the Galion Alumni Band performing at 11:30 at Park Square. Other entertainment is being planned, but not confirmed at this time.

Participating merchants will have sales and special offerings for this special event. All area residents are invited to come see these talented artists and see what Galion businesses have to offer.

    Hot Dogs on the Square

If you’re hungry at lunchtime on Friday (and who isn’t?), be sure to head down to Park Square for the Chamber’s regular “Hot Dogs on the Square” event. You might even catch Joe Kleinknecht at the grill! This month’s event takes place between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., and is sponsored by United Bank.
