This past week GalionLive has been updated a bit less frequently, as the editor was on an exceedingly rare vacation. It’s now Saturday, and we’re catching up-to-date by collecting items from the last few days. Here is a look at some recent local stories:

Galion’s Eric Faulds has been named as station manager for a brand-new radio station in Delaware. WJJE broadcasts as a local affiliate of the American Family Association network, which is “…dedicated to strengthening the family and desires to communicate an outspoken, resolute, Christian voice in America through news, information, Bible teaching and inspirational music” according to its Facebook Page. Click here to access the WJJE page and to view a photo of Eric and his family.

Another book signing has been scheduled by the Galion Historical Society for “The Olentangy Legacy,” a two-volume set which represents the first published comprehensive history of Galion. Author Dr. Bernard Mansfield, a founder of the Galion Historical Society some 55 years ago and a current member of the Society’s Board of Directors, will be signing books on Wednesday evening, August 25 from 6 pm to 7 pm at the his residence, 400 Buckeye Road, Galion. Both volumes will be available for purchase at the book signings in hardbound format.

The Galion Synergy Committee has published its first e-newsletter for the upcoming Connections Weekend. This edition profiles efforts to promote the event, a call for alumni volunteers, and information about last year’s Hall of Fame induction. Click here to read a copy of the e-newsletter.

We discovered some new creative and interesting photos of the Galion Theatre marquee which have been posted to Flick – click here to access.

Over the last five days, our Galion on Facebook page has included updates from United Way of Galion, Child Care Choices, American Family Insurance, Galion Free Methodist Church, City of Galion Health Department, Rock Solid Media LLC, East of Chicago Pizza, The Varsity Grille, Uptowne Outfitters, Laurie’s Pastries, and Poland True Value Hardware. Here’s an idea…avoid the connections weekend. The vocal minority is after more money and will put on their best face to show us just how wonderful things are and how advanced our school district is. Please, do us all a favor…return the taxpayers money leftover from the building project. This money does not belong to the district, it belongs to the taxpayers. The Galion Synergy Committee? Just who are the members of this committee?

I completely agree with you, Steven. The Synergy Committee is composed of the same old self appointed people whose hands are red from patting each other on the back. These are the folks who have blindly supported wasting millions of dollars in assets, while at the same time begging for money. The results include unsafe school transportation and hoarded funds.
