The Crawford County Veterans Hall of Fame will benefit from two upcoming events.
On September 4, the AMVETS Post 27 in Bucyrus will host a Hillbilly Breakfast from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $5 and includes an all-you-can-eat buffet with proceeds going to benefit the Crawford County Veterans Hall of Fame. The breakfast will take place at the post, located at 235 E. Galen St. in Bucyrus, and is open to the public.
The money donated from the Hillbilly Breakfast will help with induction ceremony costs, as well as other activities conducted by the group. “We have decided to donate the proceeds from our first Hillbilly Breakfast of the year to the Crawford County Veterans Hall of Fame,” said AMVETS Post 27 Commander Charles Christman, “and would like to invite everyone in Crawford County to come and support this worthy organization.
Then, on October 2, the Crawford County Veterans Hall of Fame will be holding a Schwan’s Home Service Fundraiser. The fundraiser will be held throughout Crawford County from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the following locations:
- AMVETS Post 27 in Bucyrus
- American Legion Post 243 in Galion
- VFW Post 2920 in Crestline
- American Legion Post 405 in New Washington
Community members are encouraged to attend as there will be something for everyone. “There will be around 350 products to choose from on the day of the sale,” said project Chairman Randy Eicher. More importantly, the money raised will go toward a good cause. “Schwan’s will be donating about 20 percent of total sales from this event to the Crawford County Veterans Hall of Fame.” Proceeds will help fund projects like the induction ceremony, which will be held on Nov. 11, 2010, at Buckeye Central High School.
The Crawford County Veterans Hall of Fame was founded, “for the sole purpose of recognizing the lifetime accomplishments, from their military service, and their community and civic contributions of the past, present and future generations of veterans that were born in Crawford County, OH or that have fulfilled the residency requirements put in place by the Crawford County Veterans Hall of Fame, Inc.” 17 veterans have been inducted since the hall of fame’s founding in Aug. of 2006, with a new class scheduled to be inducted this year.
