A Mini-Milestone

One of the most common oversights of any news medium is to cover itself. Important milestones and achievements are often overlooked with a sense of “we’re here to report, not to promote.”
We’re going to take a step back today and do something different – we’re going to share an internal milestone enjoyed by GalionLive this past week.
Now over a year old, GalionLive has been around for a period full of excitement, controversy and change in our community. We’ve been there for graduations, the end of a perfect football regular season, a City Council meeting in Heise Park, and for the choice of two City Managers. Along the way we’ve been the first local news source to report on many important topics, including the enactment, and then the lessening, of utility rate hikes – as well as the decision of the Galion Board of Education to move from the NOL to the NCC.
Throughout that time we’ve been working to connect Galionites together, past and present, and to forge new ways to build community. Some 2,279 photos have been posted, as well as 111 videos, 225 forum topics (and almost 2,000 responses) and 224 events.
This past week, we hit a mini-milestone in welcoming our 2,500th friend, fan, follower and registered user, and we wanted to take a minute out to celebrate with all of you. We think that this number is testament to the love that Galionites, past and present, have for their community, and the fact that we are a very social people!
OK, now that we’ve taken that moment, it’s on to making GalionLive a bigger, better and more enjoyable place for local discussion and communication.
