After a mild winter, and what has turned out to be a rather cool spring, it might be strange to think that summer is around the corner.
One sure harbinger of warmer times is upon us, however — the re-launch of Galion’s two farmers markets.
The Northside Farmers Market is set to kick off its 2012 season a week from today on Tuesday, May 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. The market takes place in the lawn in front of the KFC restaurant on Portland Way North, easily reachable from town and from US30, on Tuesdays from May through October.
Possible items you may find on opening day include: kale, maple syrup, bread, cookies, spice mixes, lettuce, green onions, vegetable plants, local meat, herb plants, fresh cut herbs, and more — as well as farm fresh eggs.

God’s Little Acre Farmers Market is also prepping for the coming growing and selling season. Kickoff will take place on Saturday, May 5, from 9:00 a.m. through noon, and will take place at the market’s permanent home, the parking lot of First Presbyterian Church on South Market Street in Uptowne Galion.
Spaces are available at God’s Little Acre on a first-come, first-served basis. Information is available at the church office – 419.468.1366.
