School is out across MidOhio and if families have not already made plans for keeping their children busy this summer, there is an abundance of options available not too far from home. There are a few area organizations that offer day camps for children. A creative child might enjoy art lessons at Mansfield Art Center, or visit the Richland Academy to take a variety of dance camps and classes for toddlers through teenagers. For kids who enjoy outdoor science and exploration, both the Ohio Bird Sanctuary in Mansfield and the Mohican Outdoor … Read the rest

    Locally Grown, Locally Proud

Participants in yesterday evening’s open discussion on local farming at the Galion Public Library shared a strong message: Galion-area consumers have more options than they might realize – and healthier ones — when it comes to purchasing produce and meat.

The discussion, which featured Amanda Wagner of Wagner Brother Farms, Dale Norwood of Springwood Valley Farms, Dave Riedel of Fairview Farms and Mendy Sellman of Rus Men Farms, included individual presentations as well as an opportunity to answer audience questions. Each of the farming operations represented have individual specialties and methods, but all are united in at least three ways: assisting in creating a connection between consumers with their food and with the manner in which their food is produced; educating consumers about the variety of options available to them … Read the rest
