As was reported earlier this year, the schools recently turned to eSchoolView, a Columbus company, to design and host a new District communications center. Founded in 2009, the company provides turn-key websites for over 200 schools across the Midwest.

Galion Schools’ new site, still accessible at: www.galionschools.org, provides much of the same information as its former website but arranged in a more intuitive fashion. Menu tabs provide quick access to resources for parents, students, and staff, including downloadable forms, links to important information, maps, and more. On July 14 beginning at 10:00 a.m., the First Annual HomeCare Benefit Ride for Hospice is taking place, presented by Road Riders for Jesus. All area bikers are invited; the cost is only $10 per bike, and $15 per rider.

Registration will take place until 11:00 p.m. at HomeCare’s home on North Market Street, and the ride will follow until 2:00 p.m.. At that time, the after-ride festivities will begin with an Opening Ceremony.

One of the Association’s tournament events will be held in Galion this year.

The non-profit, all-volunteer association was started in 1987 by Marion-area executives who saw a need to establish a program to educate juniors through a golf camp, seminar, eight-tournament tour, awards, and scholarships toward college education.

One of the early events of the 2012 season is the golf camp which is scheduled for June 7. The camp is held for beginners and youths who want to brush up on the fundamentals of the golf swing. Rules and etiquette on the golf course will also be discussed.
