Cooler weather is easing Galion into fall, and there is still plenty of locally grown produce, naturally raised meats, home-baked desserts and bread and handmade crafts at the God’s Little Acre Farmers’ Market, located at the First Presbyterian Church, 240 S. Market St., Galion, held every Saturday through October, open 9 a.m. – 12 p.m..

To celebrate the beginning of autumn, Mendy Sellman, along with husband Rus, of Rus-Men Farms, in Galion, will be bringing an International Harvester 806 tractor for the community, especially the kids, to see for the Sept. 10 market. “We’ll also bring a few heritage breed layer hens, which can be calmer than meat chickens,” adds Sellman.

“We’ll have various heirloom tomatoes,” says Toni Norwood, of Springwood Valley Farm, in Galion. Norwood will also have hot peppers and fresh and potted herbs, such as lavendar. Norwood, who is NorthSide Farmers’ Market manager, along with husband, Dale, reminds customers that there are no early sales because vendors are setting up their booths … Read the rest
