    Tuna and the President

    There are two productions taking place in Galion this weekend — the launch of a wonderful new play at the Galion Community Theatre, and a one-man show at the Galion Public Library.

    Friday night brings the first performance of “Red, White, and Tuna” at the Galion Theatre. The comedy, written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard, will be directed locally by Betsy Gerhart. The production will star the intrepid Matt Feck and Chris Laughbaum, who have appeared previously in the “Tuna” series presented by the GCT.

    Performances are scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m.; next Friday and Saturday at the same time; and Sunday, February 26 at 2:00 p.m. for a closing matinee.

    A Night at “Anything Goes”

    agmainGalionLive! took the chance to visit opening night of the Galion Community Theatre’s 25th Anniversary Production – Cole Porter’s wonderful “Anything Goes.”

    The evening began with a short review of GCT’s 25 years of performances, which began in 1984 with a production of “The Sound of Music.” Soon, however, Maestro Brian Treisch struck up the pit orchestra and the curtain rose to reveal three decks of a ship setting sail for England with a truly unique set of passengers on board. Anything Goes is chock full of Porter favorites, including “You’re the Top,” “Is Delovely,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” and the signature tune, “Anything Goes.”
